Trumpet Teacher

SAM SCHIMMING

Sam is currently studying a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium specialising in classical trumpet. He graduated from Nudgee College in 2020 and was granted the Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship for high achieving students. He is currently working towards his goal of becoming an orchestral trumpet player and throughout this process has found a passion for teaching and early music performance. Additionally, he is passionate about powerlifting, competing at a state level and finding ways to use this experience to help his teaching and playing. In his free time, Sam enjoys learning about physics, playing with his two Labradoodles and performing with groups such as the Brisbane Philharmonic, Queensland Youth Symphony and Brisbane Monteverdi Ensemble.

French Horn Teacher

SOPHIA EVANS

Sophia has been learning music for 17 years and is an enthusiastic musician and lover of all genres. She started piano at the age of 5, completing and receiving Honours or First Class Honours for all ANZCA piano exams in both Classical and Modern from Introductory up to and including Grade 8. She has also completed music theory exams from Introductory up to Grade 5 with both ANZCA and AMEB. Sophia began learning French Horn at age 10, and has completed AMEB horn exams up to and including Grade 6 level. She has performed with the Griffith University Young Conservatorium Wind Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and Brass Ensemble over her first 7 years of playing horn, and was principal horn in Queensland Youth Orchestra 2 in 2018, which she was a member of for two years. Sophia has taught instrumental music for three years; teaching piano, theory, guitar, ukulele, voice, drums, and horn, and is passionate about sharing the joys of music with her students.

Trombone Teacher

WILL MUIR

Will is an accomplished tertiary level trombone player, currently studying at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith university. He has been playing the trombone for 8 years, working with and learning from many prominent brass players within Queensland, including the principle trombone players of both the Queensland Pops Orchestra and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. During his time at school, he took part in both the Australian Honours Ensemble Program and the Pacific Honours Ensemble Program, in which he was nominated twice for (2018,2019). Upon graduating from school, he successfully auditioned for the Queensland Conservatorium, and was offered a place at the University of Queensland. Will is currently working towards completing a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Classical Trombone, as well as involving himself in other prominent music communities, such as Brisbane Brass and the Queensland Youth Orchestra Wind Symphony. He has aspirations to study music overseas and to develop his skills as not only a trombone soloist, but as an orchestral musician and as a mentor.
